[ie-announce] Share Your Experience: Academia/Industry Collaboration in Capstone Projects

Dear colleagues,

The Informatics Europe Education Research Working Group 
<https://www.informatics-europe.org/education/education-research-working-group.html> 
is currently preparing a report detailing best practices for 
academia/industry collaborations in education. As part of this effort, 
we are interested in understanding current practices related to 
collaboration on B.Sc./M.Sc./PhD theses, work-based learning, and 
capstone projects.

With this email, we ask you for your help and for ten minutes of your 
time. Could you - or a person at your institution involved in capstone 
projects - please fill out the survey at:

help us better understand how capstone projects are currently 
implemented in collaboration with external stakeholders?

According to the literature, "capstone course" is used to denote "a 
course that finishes an academic degree. The main goal of a 
project-based capstone course [referred to as a capstone project] is to 
provide hands-on experience in applying the tools, techniques, 
principles and best practices that are taught more theoretically in 
previous courses." (Tenhunen et al., 2023).

The data obtained through this survey will be used in aggregated form to 
produce a "best practices" report on how European institutions implement 
capstone projects in the context of academia/industry collaborations.

The survey is completely anonymous and all questions are optional. That 
said, we welcome you to volunteer information. The deadline for 
participation is* November 21, 2025*.
