Informatics Europe proudly announces the *Minerva Informatics Equality 
Award*, devoted to initiatives seeking to encourage and support the 
careers of women in informatics research and education. Coming into its 
eighth year, the Award is sponsored by Google.

The Minerva Informatics Equality Award recognises outstanding European 
initiatives and best practices that *encourage and support the careers 
of women in informatics research and education. *

The Award seeks to celebrate *s**uccessful initiatives that have had a 
measurable impact on the careers of women at all stages*. Such 
initiatives can serve as exemplars of best practices within the 
community, with the potential to be widely adopted by other 
institutions. Submissions need to demonstrate the impact that has been 
achieved.

*The Award carries a prize of EUR 5,000.*

The Award will be given to an individual or to a group to be used for 
further work on promoting gender equality. To be eligible for the award, 
applying candidates must be affiliated with institutions in one of the 
member or candidate member countries of the Council of Europe 
<http://www.coe.int/>, or Israel. *Members of the Award Committee are 
not eligible. *

This year the Award committee is composed by past Minerva winners

members of our Diversity & Inclusion Working Group 
<https://www.informatics-europe.org/society/diversity-and-inclusion/working-group.html>, 
as well as members of EUGAIN <https://eugain.eu/>, the COST Action on 
Gender Equality in Informatics initiated by Informatics Europe in 2020. 
The Committee reserves the right to split the prize between different 
applications.

The Award will be presented during the 19th European Computer Science 
Summit (ECSS) <https://www.informatics-europe.org/ecss/home.html>, which 
will be held in Edinburgh, UK, between October 23-25, 2023, where a 
representative of the winning institution(s) will be invited to give a 
short talk on their achievements. Noteworthy runners up may also be 
included as exemplars of best practice
