Dear Colleagues,

Informatics Europe is happy to share with the community a number of
recent key reports and outcomes:

  * The report "Informatics for All: The Strategy
    <http://www.informatics-europe.org/component/phocadownload/category/10-reports.html?download=75:informatics_for_all_2018>"
which sets a comprehensive and ambitious plan to establish
Informatics as an essential discipline for students in Europe at all
levels throughout the educational system. “Informatics for All: The
Strategy” builds on an earlier report jointly developed by the ACM
Europe Council and Informatics Europe, “Informatics Education in
Europe: Are We All in the Same Boat?
which presented the state of relevant education and related teacher
training across Europe. Its conclusions highlighted the serious need
for an initiative to ensure that Informatics is properly recognised
within the educational systems so that Europe is well placed to
compete globally in reaping the benefits that flow from Informatics.

Informatics for All was the center of a discussion panel held in
Brussels on March 15 where members of European Commission, Directorate
DG Education and DG Connect joined members of the Informatics Europe
Board and the ACM Europe Councilin a lively and fruitful discussion
about the recommendations of the paper and the way ahead of the
challenging proposal of offering Informatics for all students in Europe.

  * The report: When Computers Decide: European Recommendations on
    Machine-Learned Automated Decision Making
    <http://www.informatics-europe.org/component/phocadownload/category/10-reports.html?download=74:automated-decision-making-report>
which was at the center of a discussion panel held in Brussels on
March 15. The panel gathered members of the European Commission,
from Directorate DG Research and Innovation and DG Connect and
members of the Informatics Europe Board and ACM Europe Councilin an
stimulating and fruitful discussion about the report recommendations
and technical, ethical, legal, economic, societal and educational
ramifications of Machine-Learned Automated Decision Making. Read
more about the report and the Brussels panel on the followingnews

The two panels were part of a broader event that Informatics Europe
organized together with the ACM Europe Council where a networking
reception with members of the European Commission was also held.

  * The report Informatics Research Evaluation
    <http://www.informatics-europe.org/component/phocadownload/category/10-reports.html?download=76:research-evaluation-2018>
that focuses on the main principles and criteria that should be
followed when individual researchers are evaluated for their
research activity in the field of Informatics. The report confirms
the early findings of the previous report on Research Evaluation for
    Computer Science
    <http://www.informatics-europe.org/component/phocadownload/category/10-reports.html?download=44:research-evaluation-for-computer-science> and
incorporates new observations concerning in particular the growing
emphasis on collaborative, transparent, reproducible and accessible
