[Ethical-informatics] WG Future Actions & Questionnaire to Complete

Dear  WG Members,

First of all we would like to wish you a Happy and Successful New Year! 
We hope that our productive cooperation will continue in 2020 and we are 
happy to announce you some further plans and updates of the working 
group on Ethical/Social Impact of Informatics as a Study Subject.

  * We would like to gratefully thank Paola Mello from Università di
    Bologna for leading the work of our group in a very productive way
    and are happy to welcome a new WG coordinator – Viola Schiaffonati,
    an associate professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the
    Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria of
    Politecnico di Milano. You can find her background and research

    wish Viola the success in her role.

  * At the end of 2019, Informatics Europe became a partner of the
    Erasmus+ Project Ethics4EU - Ethical Computer Science Education for
    Europe <https://twitter.com/Ethics4EU>.  The key aims of the project
    are to develop a common understanding of European values in Ethics
    in Technology, to develop a community of practice amongst Computer
    Science and Ethics lecturers who will work together to develop
    online resources for the teaching and assessment of ethics in
    Computer Science programmes, and to upskill lecturers with the
    knowledge, skills and competencies in ethical technology development
    in a European context. Informatics Europe will work together with
    the leading organization, TU Dublin, Ireland, and the other
    partners, and support dissemination and communication of all actions
    and outcomes, as well as help to recruit participants to the
    different surveys and training phases.

  * As the topic and goals of the project are aligned with the focus of
    our Ethics Working group, we invite you all to *participate in the
    project’s survey *examining existing practices in the teaching of
    Ethics in Computer Science programmes across Europe. *We would be
    very grateful if you could fill in the online questionnaire
    <https://www.informatics-europe.org/survey/index.php/survey/index/sid/353637>
    on behalf of your Department/School/Faculty/Institute by February
    23*. It will take only 15-20 minutes of your time. For your
    convenience, we have also attached the PDF version of the
    questionnaire so that you can see all questions together. Your
    feedback will help us to prepare a report in which we summarize the
    existing practices and outline possible approaches for developing a
    future curriculum of Ethics in Computer Science programmes. Please
    also feel free to *share the online questionnaire with your
    colleagues from other universities *– the more diverse the circle of
    participants, the more complete state of affairs on the topic we
    could describe.
