Award 2025 has been extended to June 16th (Mon) — take this final 
opportunity to shine a spotlight on excellent doctoral work in Informatics!

The Award recognises exceptional dissertations that demonstrate strong 
impact in the field and society. The winner will receive a EUR 3,000 
prize, and the best unpublished dissertation will be offered a free 
publishing opportunity with Springer.

Supervisors:support your students’ achievements by nominating their 
excellent work.

Doctoral graduates:if you completed your PhD recently, speak with your 
supervisor about getting nominated.

Informatics Europe Best Dissertation Award*. This prestigious Award 
recognises excellent PhD dissertations in Informatics, empowers emerging 
Informatics researchers and helps bring their work to a broader audience.

*All Informatics Europe members are invited to nominate or endorse an 
outstanding PhD dissertation defended in the academic years 2023-2024 or 
2024-2025 (on or before December 31, 2024).*

The Award Committee will evaluate nominations based on:

  * originality of research and methodology
  * impact and quality of achieved results
  * societal relevance
  * clarity and quality of exposition

Should more than one dissertation reach an equivalent top score, the one 
with the highest societal impact score will be selected.

To expand the reach of outstanding research, the winner will be invited 
to present their work at the European Informatics Leaders Summit 
<https://www.informatics-europe.org/ecss/home.html> (ECSS 2025) and to 
publish their work in a dedicated Springer series. If the winning 
dissertation is already published with an ISBN or under copyright 
protection, the Committee will award the publishing opportunity to the 
best unpublished dissertation submitted.
