Our Europe's first and only Summer School on Informatics Education 
Research (SCHIER 2024

sponsored and co-organised with IBM Research Europe, will cover 
foundational theoretical and methodological aspects of research on 
teaching and learning, combined with more practical aspects of designing 
and implementing research in these areas. SCHIER 2024 is also the place 
to connect with like-minded researchers and establish a robust European 
Informatics Education Research community.

The urgent need for investment in Informatics Education has been 
highlighted by the recent Recommendation 
<https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/press/press-releases/2023/11/23/digital-skills-and-competences-and-successful-digital-education-and-training-fit-for-the-digital-era/> 
of the Council of the EU. Being *the first and only summer school in 
Informatics Education Research in Europe*, SCHIER offers *PhD students, 
postdocs, or researchers in informatics and related fields* an immersion 
in cutting-edge research methods and theories necessary to be mastered 
to do research in Informatics Education. The School also aims at 
enlarging and consolidating a truly European community of researchers in 
this field. At SCHIER, participants can:

  * *Explore topics relevant to becoming a successful researcher in
    Informatics Education,* from the more foundational subjects to the
    more application-focused ones.
