Dear Colleagues,

The goal of the Informatics Europe "Women in ICT Research and Education"
(WIRE) working group is to provide information to heads of departments
that will help them make decisions about the most effective policies
that they can implement in order to increase the participation of women
initially as students and then as employees. We will compile a set of
actions that can be taken to attract women to participate in informatics
education and ensure the continued participation of women in the
organisation at commensurate rates with their male colleagues.
By implementing simple-to-implement policies that guide, run and
evaluate a department or institute, we hope that the culture and
environment will adapt so that women will join and stay, to the benefit
of men and women alike.

We would very much appreciate your department filling in the survey
"Women in Informatics Research and Education: Survey on Female Employees":

http://www.informatics-europe.org/survey/index.php?sid=16593

This will allow us to understand what the current rates of female
participation are in Informatics departments across Europe, and gives us
a baseline with which to compare in the future.

We would also appreciate tips from different cultures and backgrounds so
we can offer a broad range of tips in our final publication.

Thank you on behalf of the Informatics Europe WIRE working group for
your cooperation and your time.

Lynda Hardman and Cristina Pereira
